Zeaspark ("we", "our", or "us") operates the HelmLog mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use HelmLog.
Information We Collect
Data You Provide
- Boat information: Name, type, dimensions, and photos you add to your boat profiles.
- Trip data: Trip names, start/end locations, track points (GPS coordinates), notes, log entries, and photos captured during trips.
- Crew information: Names and roles of crew members you add.
- Maintenance logs: Maintenance records, costs, and receipt photos you upload.
Data Collected Automatically
- Location data: GPS coordinates collected during active trips to plot your route, calculate speed and distance, and provide anchor alarm functionality. Location is only collected when you start a trip or activate the anchor alarm.
- Background location: When a trip is active, location data is collected in the background so your route is recorded even when the app is not in the foreground. You can stop this at any time by ending the trip.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics.
- We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect device identifiers for tracking purposes.
- We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information such as your name, email, or phone number.
How Your Data Is Stored
All your data (trips, boats, crew, photos, maintenance logs) is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it (e.g., GPX, CSV, or PDF export).
Subscriptions
HelmLog offers an optional premium subscription ("HelmLog Pro") managed through Apple's App Store. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat, a third-party service, to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives your anonymous App Store purchase receipt to verify your subscription. No personal information is shared. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Apple Watch
If you use the HelmLog Apple Watch companion app, trip data (speed, heading, distance, propulsion mode) is transmitted between your iPhone and Apple Watch via Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This data stays on your devices and is not sent to any external servers.
Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- Access: All your data is visible within the app.
- Export: You can export your trips in GPX, CSV, PDF, or GeoJSON format.
- Delete: You can delete any boat, trip, crew member, or maintenance record within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all data permanently.
Children's Privacy
HelmLog is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
